Zimbabwe Shona Stone Face Sculpture [VINTAGE]
This Zimbabwe Shona stone sculpture is hand-carved and polished into a stylized human face, its minimalist lines and smooth, flowing contours typical of the Shona tradition, one of the most recognized stone-carving practices in African art. The restraint in the carving, a few essential lines rather than literal detail, is what gives the face its quiet, timeless presence. Good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use, and the minor natural variations in the stone inherent to the material, with no major chips or cracks observed. At just over five inches, it works well as a display piece for a shelf, console, or tabletop.
