Potter Billie Shaul builds this stoneware vase around a richly textured sculptural body, heavily applied clay decoration contrasted against a warm, speckled glazed neck that catches light differently than the raw surface below it. That expressive texture and organic form give it a one-of-a-kind presence that reflects the tactile, hands-on quality of real studio ceramics rather than a smooth, uniform finish. Excellent vintage condition, with a small glaze pop or firing flaw present, consistent with handmade studio pottery, and no visible chips or cracks. At just five inches tall, it works well grouped with other textured ceramics or as a quiet standalone accent.
